Camco Clean Energy hires new policy director

Camco Clean Energy is delighted to announce the appointment of Will Pearson as the company’s first policy director.
Based in the London office, Will will advise Camco’s deal team on investment-related policy and regulatory issues and help devise country and sector strategies for new investments. He will also contribute to Camco’s overall business development and fund conceptualisation and formulation activities.
As policy director, Will assumes responsibility for enhancing the delivery of the REPP mandate by working to improve the policy environment in target countries. This will involve linking the needs and learnings from REPP-supported projects and developers with in-country policy advocacy units and policy makers to deliver tangible change in applicable policies and regulations.
Prior joining Camco, Will was director of GET FiT Zambia , a KfW-sponsored programme implementing the 200 MW Zambian Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff (REFiT) Strategy. He also managed Triskel Africa, a project consulting and investment advisory services firm, and before that was a director in the energy practice at the political risk consultancy, Eurasia Group.
Geoff Sinclair, Managing Director at Camco, said: “Understanding and being able to navigate the nuances of individual countries’ policy landscapes is critical to Camco’s work and fulfilling the REPP mandate to its full potential.
“Will’s success in partnering with government and private sector participants to develop a small-scale renewable energy programme in Zambia and breadth of prior experience in the sector makes him the ideal candidate for this role.”
Will’s arrival comes shortly after George Thara joined Camco as Investment Officer for East Africa, working out of the Nairobi office, and Kristoffer Laurson became the company’s first Syndication Director, based in London.
