Camco team expansion continues with two new directors
Rafikh Ismail and Tom Berryman have joined the Camco team, further boosting Camco’s climate finance credentials.
Operating out of Camco’s office in Johannesburg, Rafikh has responsibility for overall portfolio, operations and impact management, as well as business development and deal origination.
Prior to Camco, Rafkih was Vice President of Finance and Asset Management at integrated independent power producer, Scatec Solar. Before that he worked for the development financing institution, Industrial Development Corporation, on numerous due diligences and structured deals.
Tom is based in Camco’s London office and is investigating opportunities for new UK-focused impact funds, as well as supporting the delivery of Camco’s existing mandates.
Tom has had a varied career to date that has spanned the public and private sectors, but always with a focus on sustainability. Among other roles he has worked for the UK Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), scoping out an impact fund in the natural environment sector, and established a number of climate funds as an adviser at the UK Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
The new recruits join the team after WIll Pearson became Camco’s first Policy Director in May and George Thara and Kirstoffer Laurson took up positions in April as Investment Officer for East Africa and Syndication Director, respectively.
Camco’s Managing Director Geoff Sinclair said Tom and Rafikh bring with them a wealth of experience in different fields that will complement the team’s already diverse range of talents.
